Evolve Housing wins a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Transparency Award

Evolve Housing is honoured to have received the highly regarded PwC Transparency Award in the category of most improved charity for 2013.

The PwC Transparency Awards recognise those charities with the most rigorous and transparent reporting on financials, governance and strategy.

This year PwC reported that 53 of the nation’s most recognisable charities entered the PwC Awards – up from 44 entrants last year. The PwC Awards are presided over by an independent jury that included Paula Benson, GM Corporate Responsibility at National Australia Bank, David Locke, Assistant Commissioner at the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission, and David Crosbie, CEO of the Community Council for Australia. The awards are a collaboration between PwC Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and the Centre for Social Impact.

Evolve Housing CEO Andrea Galloway said, “18 months ago we rebranded as Evolve Housing and began our journey to grow as an organisation and become a leading community housing provider. It started with articulating our purpose, vision and core values of our organisation and team. We also as an organisation developed a three year strategy that would deliver our purpose of being a major contributor to the relief of housing stress in Australia. In line with our core values it was critical that we changed the way we communicated with our residents, our stakeholders and our partners.  Entering the PWC Awards for the first time last year was a huge learning curve for us as we learnt about the critical path for true organisational transparency and we observed the high standard already set by other not for profits.”

For us the journey for organisational transparency is a continual one and critical in the measures of our success as an organisation and a not for profit. At Evolve Housing our team not only share but live our organisational core values each and every day, we are committed and passionate about what we do.

Celebrating Seniors Week with our residents

Evolve Housing celebrated Seniors Week with an outing to Berowra Waters, an occasion which reunited long-lost friends Lishan, Maohui and Vera (pictured below).

At the outing, 27 senior residents had the opportunity to rekindle friendships over lunch. For husband and wife, Lishan and Maohui, they were surprised to see their close friend Vera, one of our senior residents, who they met 15 years ago. It was the first time they had seen Vera since losing contact five years ago.

“This is an example of the fantastic benefits that can eventuate from Evolve Housing being able to arrange outings such as this one,” said Bruce Stubbs, Chairperson of the Residents Council.

“I cannot wait for more activities,” said Vera.

To see photos from the day, visit our Evolve Housing Facebook page.

Our senior residents also received free tickets to the Seniors Week Premier’s Gala Concert, featuring international guest performers and Australian musicians.

“I became happier and got more knowledge and experience,” said Zhang.

“Attending a concert is something I would not normally do,” said Rosemary. “It improved my wellbeing and brings a sense of joy to life.”
