Evolve Housing has been successful in receiving two grants through the ClubGRANTS program and Holroyd Clubs. The program encourages a variety of initiatives that increase cultural harmony and respect between community groups, improve physical participation and health, increase community involvement, and foster education and community safety.
Evolve Housing’s two initiatives aim to encourage engagement and participation as well as to support tenants dealing with mental health problems.
Our arts initiative will develop tenants’ skills and knowledge through photography workshops, with the added benefit of addressing community misconceptions about social housing. Tenants will exhibit their creations to the whole community, providing a vehicle that creates dialogue and a voice within Holroyd. It will enable local residents to see the strength of people living in social housing and highlight the rich diversity in the community.
Our healthy living support program will assist social housing tenants in the Holroyd local government area who are socially disadvantaged and living with a mental illness. The program will include a number of activities to promote mental wellbeing, empowering tenants to work through their needs and concerns and gain insight and skills to address their mental health issues. The project will break down social isolation, improve access to support services and build on strengths to develop a wide range of strategies so tenants can improve their quality of life.
